The Columbia Publishing Course is a six-week intensive graduate program for students looking to get into publishing. The first 3 weeks are dedicated to the book program. The second 3 weeks are dedicated to the magazine program. I teach the magazine design workshop, the culmination of the course. Students work in teams of 18 to develop a new magazine for an underserved audience. Each member of the team has a unique position. There's a Publisher, Business Manager, Executive Editor, Features, Editor, Managing Editor, Art Director Print and Art Director digital, UX director, Circulation director and many others to form a complete team. It’s an amazing program. I was invited by the director to design its brochure. She loved what I did. 2019 marks my 10th year with the program. The program is now offered at Oxford University in the UK as well as Columbia University in NYC. Here are the brochures I designed for 2019.
Edward Fields/Tai Ping
I designed the brochure of the new carpet line from Edward Fields/Tai Ping. These stunning carpets are handmade in China from Wool and Silk from original designs. Beautiful photography by Andrew Borden and Matthew Mendenhall. Wonderful printing by John Mehl and Vanguard Printers.
